The hardest part is to replace the addiction factor - the love factor for smoking - with something else.

I'm trying to replace it with an addiction to non-smoking... psychological approach.

Best wishes for all those who struggle with the cancer sticks. KEEP UP THE FIGHT!

I took Wellbutrin for a few months when I was in my late teens... haven't smoked since then. (Or before for that matter... but maybe I would have started without it?)

Chantix is one of those medicines which help in getting over smoking habit, but this medicine has some side effects as well. Person using chantix mainly encounter sleeplessness, change of taste and headache but these side effects diminish with time. So people should consult there physician before going for this medicine. Along with having this medicine, you should also have will power and feeling that you want to get over this habit. Best luck to all those who want to quit smoking.
        Chantix is FDA approved drug.

well, my quit day was last Friday and I can really tell the Chantix taking the edge off my urges. If I can get thru a meal without a smoke I dont even think about smoking most of the day, just takes a little willpower to say no 3-4 times a day. So far so good, no side effects noticed but my sense of smell is coming back a bit. I thought my addiction to nasal spray destroyed it. I snorted nasal spray for years for a mild allergy dumb dumb dumb dumb

I'm not sure yet but it feels like my precancerous mouth lesion is healing up too. Its right where my lower molar was so there's like a wind tunnel created by the gap, thats where the lesion is - I dont think thats a coincidence, the tobacco smoke funnels right over that patch of tissue.

But my Doc says this a 3 month process. No way am I paying several hundred $$$ for these pills. He said people relapse at the 3rd day when the nicotine finally leaves the body and 14 days (not sure why). I have another week's worth of pills so I might get another 14 (1 week) and then thats it, I'm on my own. It didn't take but maybe 2 weeks for me to kick smoking with the nicotine gum when I quit a few years back so I dont see why this would take longer, the gum was still feeding me nicotine

Hmm, when I went on it, the doctor gave me an intro coupon for 10 bucks off so it only cost 20 bucks for a month's worth of pills. Cheaper than cigs by a long shot.

At least if you only take it for a few weeks the side effects won't be as bad.

You could always stretch it and take only one pill a day. The last few weeks, the side effects were getting worse so I cut back to one pill a day. Their effectiveness didn't seem to diminish at that point.

I'm using the patch now. 10 more weeks of getting less and less nicotine > keep smoking.
                What?
