This is true. But it seems pretty. And it's an actual city.

And with that comes the awesome gun violence and gang warfare.

Homicide rate 2.9/100000? I'll take it.

That's significantly higher than Toronto or Calgary (or presumably MTL).

It's a tiny fraction of virtually every US city, BUT STILL.

That doesn't say it is on native land.

AFAIK, oil wells can be forced on any private land. The companies have to lease the small area needed by the well from the land owner. I don't think they can do that on native owned land.

Oil sands can't be forced on any land. It wouldn't be just a small area. Most of the oil sands are in relatively remote areas though, so I haven't heard it ever being much of an issue.

The difference between MTL and Calgary is much larger than the difference between Calgary and Vancouver.

And the city I currently live in has a homicide rate 13-14 times higher than any of those.

              EDIT: said smaller, meant larger

There was a shooting less than 50 feet from my doorstep 2 weeks ago.

The other thing you have to remember about Vancouver is less people speak English there than people in Quebec City.

Yes, I've just fired my typist.

Can we get the admin to give you editing powers so you can follow me around nitpicking and correcting my posts?

My style merely reflects my typist anyway. Sometimes I've got an ornery typist who is upset with the wages I pay him, so he twists my kind words into meanspirited attacks.

I'd happily correct everyone's spelling and grammar were I given the power. I'm just not wasting enough time at work.
