Let me put it this way: at the end of WWII the Canadian navy would have taken the Russian navy over its knees and delivered a sound spanking.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

That should tell you something about how good the Russian Navy is.

IIIRC, in 1941 we had more subs then Germans.
And how many ships did those Soviet subs sink, approximately? For that matter, has any Soviet sub sunk any foreign ship in a combat situation, ever? That's a somewhat serious question. I'm sure they got one or two merchies in the Baltic during WWII, but that's gotta be about it.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

Then again, that was by process of elimination, as almost every other warship in the world was rusting at the bottom of the ocean, mostly courtesy of the USN, with some help from the Brits and Canucks, as well as a bit by the Germans and Japanese before they got roundly *****slapped.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

Seriously, though, Canada had a very nice navy, centered around escort and light aircraft carriers, and ASW corvettes and destroyers, with some limited amphibious capability IIRC. It couldn't go toe to toe with the USN, although it could probably have given the UK a very stiff fight, and anyone else in the world would have been toast, fast.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

Seriously, during WWII the only thing the russian navy did was get dismantled. The russians saved what guns and sailors they could from the fleet before it was completely destroyed by the germans.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I see you posses a great knowledge of the Russian military history. I have no desire to nlighten you, morons.
Wikipedia may not be a great source, but it does back up what we are saying - a very limited role for the Red Navy, with most of it ending up at the bottom of the ocean. Apparently, elements of it were used to harrass Axis shipping in the Black Sea, and some light units were used as convoy escorts for convoys bound for Murmansk and Archangelsk, but that's about it.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche
