  • Upgrade computers and favorite machines

I've got this Dell Dimension 8400 desktop. Its about 5 years old now, the only major upgrade is a new graphics card after we burned the old one out playing CoD (muwahaha!). My kids are all growing up now, and damn fine shots with the sniper rifle. But I digress. I do uprgade peripherals like mouse and printer occasionally.

I've looked at upgrading to a new comp but I just can't get excited about it. This one is clunky and quite noisy but I'm attached to it. Do you feel the same about your comp?

It doesn't matter. Drive to the store, order or invent. By the time you get it into the case it's out of date.

I'm attached to the one I'm using now -- a 450 MHz PIII that I think I bought in 1999, give or take a year. It runs Windows 98se just fine, and though the original drive was replaced with a pair of 80 gig drives years ago, it is still mostly "original equipment." It surfs the web and checks the email, and occasionally I'll play games on it none of my newer computers want to handle. I like it.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

it was probably Vista that put me off.
