What I am saying is that most left wing and liberal commentators often spew hate on the so called rich, however, all it takes to be rich is to work hard, stay in school, and have a spouse that also works. Ergo, this also means that people who arn't rich are simply have not done those things. It's not a secret, it's not "the man" screwing over other people, it's simply being a responsible, stable citizen.
More right-wing propaganda. Those commentators you see on TV all make at least in the high six-figures; many make more than that. They are the rich.

    People who adhere to:
    #1) Staying in school.
    #2) Working longer hours.
#3) Living in two income households (wife and husband both work)
...usually make around $40,000/year -- assuming no lay offs. And they're having marrital difficulties because they're working so hard they never see each other.

Don't bother, Kribbler...he's already got all the answers. You won't convince him.

I was just trying to point out he was embracing middle-class values.

The rich got rich by not blindly following middle-class values. Instead, they spend almost every waking moment trying to figure out how they can may more money with less effort.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Why do you hate the rich?

Did you know, most of society's biggest innovators, smartest minds, greatest philanthropists, and your precious left-wing politicians are rich?

            Why do you hate America?

97k/yr is certainly not rich, even for a TWO person family. It's upper middle class (for a 2 person household), but not by any means rich.

Rich = enough money to do largely whatever you want [even if you choose not to]. Not literally whatever you want, but largely free to vacation at the nicest resorts often, to own multiple properties, to purchase things [not businesses, but actual items] generally without considering their cost, if you wish to. Plenty of 'rich' do not, of course - often that's how you get rich, after all - but they could if they chose.
Upper middle class = comfortable, able to have plenty of nice things, but still somewhat restricted in your overall actions/purchases.

$250k/yr if it's consistent [ie, not a day trader type] might put you in the realm of 'rich'. I don't think it matters what percent are rich; that's irrelevant. Rich is not a comparative thing, it's simply a description of ability.

In any event, a good portion of the rich owe their ill gotten gains to inheritance, so you are missing something rather important there. And I'd say relatively few of the truly rich have two income homes out of a desire for more money; they generally do so due to the fact that both of them are driven individuals who couldn't imagine not working.

Have you seen how she works with her mouth?

Still, 97k/year doesn't sound that much. Is it before taxes? If it is, then how much is left, approximately?

Most people who are rich were born that way.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

To truly live the live of ease and luxury, the life of a truly rich person and not just a well-off person, requries luck or being born with it.

You can't be assured to get there by getting a good degree and working your ass off.

This shows that advanced degrees move you up a lot, but not into the level of the truly rich.
