I saw a taped interview with the officer, in which the officer admitted he was in the wrong. He looks about twelve years old. Just a dumb-ass kid with not enough experience under his belt.

Look, I'm from the Dallas area, and I can tell you this:

Driving while black is a serious problem in that area. Indeed, DWB creates so many problems, I can't even tell you. This Moats guy should have been more sensitive to the DWB problem, because even if he wasn't doing anything wrong, most of the other DWB offenders were. Who can blame the cop? He was just protecting white society. Nothing wrong with that

The cop should be fired... There is nothing they can do that will make up for the fact that a "person" couldn't say good bye to a dying patient. This is just unbelievable. Note also he let the two screaming whiney women go into the hospital, when he was within rights to taser and beat them for fleeing.

The cop has the right to detain anyone in the car while he writes the ticket. He has enormous discretion. And yes, once they flee and stop complying, he can use non-lethals to subdue him. ::MADDD:

No please check your facts thanks. He was told by the driver, which every driver would say in that situation to get out of a ticket. After the nurses told him, it was less than 5 minutes, tops. Thanks again

Alright, well yes on one side of the argument it is tragic, that Moats didn't get to say goodbye to his mother in law, though at the same time, what gives him the right to break the law? The officer, did properly do his job, and honestly, if I were in his position, I would have taken them all to jail. The women in question, did flee from the scene, which would have given the officer grounds to arrest them. As for Moats, he was incredibly arrogant and rude to the officer, so in a way he did dig his own grave. He is not operating an emergency vehicle, and honestly he is no one special. Laws must apply to everyone, regardless of race, social status etc.
