Go to Death Ray thread and tell me what I missed this time please.
Glad I'm not on ignore. Would not want to miss my fair share of abuse.

I gave up being wholly against inheritance when I realized that fairness was a hollow lie.
Elaborate, please.
Both about the "hollow lie" and "wholly against" bits. You are now "somewhat against" it? Somewhat for it?
I can probably put together a decent explanation of why you see fairness as a hollow lie, but I'd rather hear your version. In my book, fairness is a pretty decent principle to chase, even though (as with anything, really) we'll never catch it.
Errr...that was like 3 months ago. And it pretty much explains what I think now.
Then:
1) TMM is thinking of a different thread; and
2) My memory is misfiring, b/c I thought it was longer ago than that (though I'd have said less than 1 year).

Kuci, thanks for the link. That was a good thread.
KH's memory is better than mine - the discussion is 4 months old.
edit: Oh, and I agree with that old line - inherited wealth *is* repugnant. It reeks of aristocracy. The question is how to deal with the conflict between fairness and freedom there. I think our current estate tax is flawed, but my preferred inheritance tax has flaws of its own.
