      Off to shower.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The order varies, but this is a typical morning: I come downstairs at 7:30, turn on the laptop and pour my first cup of coffee...

                            1. Comcast.net homepage for headlines, weather
                            2. Email check (3 accounts on one client); immediate responses as required
                            3. Poly check
                            4. NY Times top stories (email); click through to any of interest
                            5. Scan current Google alerts (these are work-related)
                            6. Work/triage -- assign industry newsletters, emails to project folders
                            7. Check FFZ, CBS Sportsline, fantasy sports sites if seasonally relevant
                            8. Comics: xkcd, BasicInstructions.net (about 2x/week)
                            9. Check IM to see if daughter is online and feeling chatty (she's studying in France)
                            10. Check Poly again

By now it's maybe 8:00 or 8:15. time to go outside, get the newspaper, then return to pour a 2nd cup of coffee and start work.
