One interesting fact (subject to my knowledge and memory of news articles from a decade ago, so 3-4 grains of salt are needed) is that you cannot sleep (regularly, anyway) in a facility without a shower on the floor on which you sleep (overnight). (Remember when this came up because congressmen/women were violating this due to sleeping in their offices, back in the late 90s?) I wonder if some offices have showers specifically for this - so they can more aggressively work all-nighters and reside at the offices for long stretches.

never felt the need for antipersperant. in fact, I thought deoderants were antipersperants by default. Shows how much I know about grooming. I've stuck with Right Guard sports stick since the 90's (Barkley commercials). Don't think I'll change now. I'm a creature of habit.

I've waited all this time for KH to resurface and this is the topic??

FWIW: Many people (myself imcluded) experience an increas in body hair as we age. Fuller beard, more chest hair, etc. More hair >> more bacteria >> more odor.

ok so the wiki article is a bit confusing. And strangely still under debate. You wouldn't think there would be this mystery about deoderant but apparantly there is.

But it does have me concerned about the aluminum in it. I think I'll go without deoderant from now on and let the ladies smell the real Dis. It can't possibly hurt my love life anymore.

If you want to kill the bacteria in your armpits consider using Hibiclens. Its the stuff surgeons wash with before sticking their hands inside you.
The only truly effective antiperspirant is Drysol. In the US it's only available via prescription, so you'll have to pay one of my brethren.

Drysol is awesome. I used to sweat through my shirt in a few hours now I am dry all day!

In Eastern pholosophies, as I noted before, body odors such as breath, sweat, and rectum output (which = sh**), are regarded as signs of iliness of the body, of being out of balance. Hence their multiple solutions.

Note the purpose of showers, as of handwashing, is to get rid of grime and bacteria. The water will wash off the grime, but the bacteria are affected by soap. Bacteria don't breath in the sense we generally mean, and they cannot drown. Washing the offending areas with soap and water and reapplying deoderant or its allies will reduce/cover the smell.
