Why do women seem to take this seriously? I don't know any guys who do, except to hold conversation with women and pretend they are interested- as I do. What year is it now? 2008, and people still believe this stuff? I'm getting annoyed having to fake interest and not call the woman a dumb you know what. .

All I know is my sign is not one women seem to go for. They don't mention much of it- Cancer. But they seem happy I'm not the one before Cancer- whatever that is.

But can someone please explain this system? How can your birthdate be of any relevance without the year of birth? The planets don't orbit the same speed as ours, so they aren't in the same position every June 24th. It will be different in 1973 (when I was born) than in say 1974. right? I'm no astronomy expert, but I believe this to case. So how can anyone take astrology seriously because of this?

My suspician is people don't actually believe this crap, and only use it as a conversation piece. It gives a people a way to tell their birthdates without being seen as being too self absorbed I suppose.

The last person who was interested in this was a guy I was trying to pull, and he started talking about rising and setting ascendant and descendant whatevers. I just smiled and nodded, and then said that I didn't think the Western Zodiac applied to me.

"Your Sign" is your sun sign (star sign, depending on how serious and old-school the girl you're talking to is). It's what constellation the sun is in at the time of your birth. Since the earth revolves around the sun fairly consistently, it is thus the same each year, with special allowances for the cusp (beginning and end of a particular sign can change from year to year)

If you wanted a "real" Astrological chart, the kind people pay $ for, you'ld need down to the minute of your birth.

Oh, people BELIEVE it. Or there wouldn't be money in it. And, yes, I used to swindle people out of money with it. No, I don't particularly believe it as far as the whole "avoid such and such this day" crap.
