I will weigh in and say itys not acceptable for minors, they are minors and therefore do not fully understand the implications.

This situation is not that far removed from the dangers to young girls who do such things, nor the boys for that matter.

i would define trading as disseminating in exchange for personal gain.

But making their mistakes and poor choices a criminal offense is a major error that only traumatizes them more.

If there was any suspicion that this is what's going on, then i'd be all for an inquiry and indictments.

But it is crystal clear that there is no such motive here.

Which is why the police/prosecution should have gotten off of this case, as soon as the investigation was done.

These kids need to talk to their parents, maybe a therapist. NOT a warden.

Siro, what would be an acceptable punishment?

I dont buy that they didnt know the consequences completely, heck, they know alot, but while not nailing them to the cross for this, a definitive punishment should be applied my friend, any suggestions?

I went back and re-read the OP. It doesn't say the kids were charged with a crime. Rather, the authorities are petitioning the juvenile court. This sounds like a process similar to what we have in California, where youths are not charged with crimes. Rather, if the court finds they did the illegal act, the youth is made a ward of the court, so corrective action may be taken. Later, when the kid attains his/her majority, the juvenile records is sealed.

Just sharing, when i said parents and grandparents I was not necessarily meaning that the kids in questioons were relatives but that parents know what can and will happen and grandparents know how this will rollover into another generation, as in the future fallout of behavior and actions left unchecked

Except that in this case, the people receiving the "pornography" were OTHER MINORS. I.e. most likely guys they were dating/sleeping with.
