Someone who drinks at work needs to be fired, or sent to a clinic.

lol not even close to that bad. I should mention I'm a constant worrier. (is that spelled right?). I'm probably no where near becoming a problem drinker. But I don't like to take chances. I only drank on weekends. I mostly drank at home (alone of course) while playing world of warcraft. That's doing 2 pathetic things at once, that can't be good. I sometimes went out to drink, but I was still alone (I dont' actually have any friends anymore).

Probably the right weight for me at just reasonable BF % would be 160-170 lbs.

I don't drink much either. Just a couple drinks occasionally, a lot less often then once every 8 days. Had 7 at the apolyton meet but that was the most in a while. I think it is better to abstain actually, but a couple isn't a bad thing for me.

Apolyton meet an no one invited me? . Taht's a pretty good weight. I'm 5'8" (or used to be in the navy- I may have shrank ). But I have a small body frame. 160 on me looks like alot, but on a stockier person with wider shoulders it would be perfect. I mainly want to get rid of my beer gut (really the only place on my body I have fat).

Honestly, it sounds like that you have way more serious problems than drinking

Only cure that I can recommend is getting out of your "cave" and getting some friends.

I like my cave. . I really have no where else to go. If I go somewhere, no one pays me any attention (see my fight thread for more on this). Granted going to a bar isn't the best place to go for friends. I could go to church, but church isn't my thing. It's incredibly boring.

Only place anyone talks to me is at work. Women at work seem to like me, I'll never understand why. When women in the real world act like I don't even exist. But I can't have women friends. I've been down that road, and it isn't pretty. I can't help but fall in love with them.

Uhm, no offense, but you are supposed to do that, so go for it. True, there are risks, but how many lifes do you have ?

PS. In real life there are no reload button, so a waisted opportunity can't be recreated.

Is my point clear now, BlackCat? I think certainly that it's clear.

Hell, where I used to work it was a nightly routine to pour a gallon bucket of a 50/50 rockstar/vodka mix split between 2-3 guys in a six-hour shift, but the work still got done as well as ever. Though I agree we still should have been fired, or sent to a clinic.

Where I used to work we always had a beer or 2 at lunch with a sandwich or burger and quite often more if we were with clients. I really don't see the problem as long as the work gets done.

anyone know about how many grams of protein a day I should be getting? hate to turn this into a workout thread, but that's what it pretty much is.

I would go at .5-.7 multiplied by your weight in pounds

some suggestion 1-1.7 but I think that is pretty much ridiculous

and have had personal trainers and doctors agree with me

Yeah, it totally depends on your level of activity as much as weight also. A 200-pound guy who only sits in an office all day could easily survive and concentrate with only 30-50 grams a day, but anybody that weight who gets regular exercise should shoot for 80-100. Also keep in mind that different foods' proteins have different amino acid profiles that might be lopsided, like how grains & rice are deficient in lysine and beans are deficient in methionine, but combining the two categories in the same meal gets a complete and efficient balance. If you don't pay attention to that, the X grams you see on the "Nutrition Facts" label might not equal the amount you actually absorb. Meats, eggs, dairy, and soy are pretty much at 100% anyway, but for a lot of people they're not the main source of protein.
                              Unbelievable!

I'm not saying who is right or wrong but, this started out as a thread about being "on" or "off" the wagon.

                                I find it funny that

(and I have no way of knowing that my age assumption is true but intuitively it seems that)

the 15-30 year olds turned it into a discussion of the appropriate amount of (protein grams)/(body weight)

and the 40+ crowd discussed how much/when drinking is appropriate.
