Are secret Facebook events really secret?

Facebook is clearly an efficient way of creating events and sending invites, but what about a surprise?

I'm afraid it might end up in the wrong news feed. Can anyone here confirm or deny that a secret event is really secret?

Facebook help says that uninvited persons can't see the event's content, but says nothing about the title/existence of the event itself.
