Bon Jovi's not that bad. But it serves him right for going to a concert. I mean, seriously? If the damage to his ears wasn't bad enough, the simple fact that there are that many people in one place means that some ****'s going to go down anyway.

You'd never see that at a Ted Leo or Tegan and Sara concert.

I'm tired, so maybe I'm not reading it right. But what exactly broke his neck?

People with small right hand sides of their brains, such as those overly concerned with data entry and computer consulting with big penises, tend to not realize that lyrics are the least important part of song writing. Clearly, the most important part is that the song is structured effectively, and in fact sounds pleasing (cf Daft Punk). While Bon Jovi's lyrics in Livin' on a Prayer may perhaps not pass muster in an advanced English class at Davidson, the fact remains that the lyrics were an effective conduit to the emotions channeled so effectively by the song's driving guitar riffs that galvanized a generation of poor dock workers and illiterate, impregnated waitresses. You have been defeated here: go back home and desperately try to feel better in the company of old friends. And yeah, he has a song about that too.

I took a couple courses in rock music, Wiggy. University-level courses. No ****.

                    I know how it works.

I just respect bands with deeper lyrics and awesome riffs. Bon Jovi had nice riffs and that was it. Bon Jovi had the depth of a Jersey hooker. They played about as tight as a Jersey hooker, too.

So you took university level classes in philosophy and rock music? I have eaten bull**** before but that is the biggest piece of bull****. Was your compsci GPA so low you needed that to bring it back up? I have exposed you. Name a band with "sweet tight riffs and deep lyrics" and I will demonstrate Bon Jovi's relative superiority within seconds.

Virtually my entire fourth year was options. I'd used up my science and math credits in the first 3 years, then the 4th year I coasted with such awesome courses as "Rock Music in the 80s".

As for an example, Pink Floyd > Bon Jovi. Pearl Jam > Bon Jovi, also. Even 1980s U2 > Bon Jovi.

Words and music. They work together. Watch "Eddie and The Cruisers".

Clapton's another good example. In any of his bands or solo efforts.

As I'm sure you know, Sloww This is for Wiggy's edification.

                              PEARL JAM1?

                              PEARLA AJM1?

Live at the Hurricane Festival 2007 in Scheessel, Germany.Video is an arte TV documentary.

                              WHAT THE ****

The only reason they are famous is

A ) A SONG ABOUT A KID BLOWING HIMSELF AWAY IN FRONT OF CLASS, INSPIRING COLUMBINE AND COUNTLESS OTHER MASS MURDERS AND

                              B) A COVER OF "LAST KISS" THAT AMOUNTS TO LITTLE MORE THAN PLAGIARISM AND AN ENEMA ON MILLIONS OF RADIOS NATIONWIDE.

A good legal case could be made for giving Eddie Vedder the gas chamber for the terrible school violence caused by Jeremy, and also for murdering The Who in that link.

Pink Floyd is ten years off, you need to stay within Bon Jovi's generation. U2 is an example of better lyrics but worse singing. Fun fact: Bono cannot sing and was not even the band's first choice...

While college yuppies loved thinking they knew about the IRA from Bono's profound lyrics, many more millions of junkies and janitors were inspired because Bon Jovi spoke directly to them minus your elite liberal filters about world peace and humanitarian aid.

Fun fact: my other university course in rock music was "U2: Even Better Than the Real Thing"

Bono was their first choice as singer. He was part of the original lineup.

I think you're confusing Bono with Adam Clayton on bass. Clayton said he could play bass, and he really, really couldn't. The bass on the first couple U2 albums is embarrassingly bad. See if you can remember the bass solo in "Gloria".
