Most of the large islands have some sort of permanent population, and all are visited regularly by Inuits (both on hunting/fishing trips and as paid members of the Canadian military in Ranger units)

The regular Canadian military also conducts exercises up there, on a more infrequent basis.

But both de facto and de jure we control those lands. They are sparsely inhabited, to be sure, but they are not void of our presence.

Also, I'm not sure why you put the word "archipelago" in quotes. It quite properly is an archipelago. I have often heard it referred to as such.

I'm not sure why anyone would ask whether there are other ice sheets such as the one on Greenland and Antartica. They're pretty ****ing hard to miss.

i'VE READ THT There is a problem with desalination plants; they leave residue, high-acidy or whatever stuff thrown back to the sea, which makes it worse for animals leaving there.

I ****ed up with the quotes. Would blame it on alcohol but am too drunk to remember when I was drinking. And I'm a chemist. So I don't do LaTex as well as a phycisist.

The only good thing about latex is that when I'm using it it means that the end of a project is near.
