Yeah, one_more_turn... I worked in the US Senate for a while... the people running the US government simply aren't intelligent or coordinated enough to pull off a conspiracy like that without a huge leak.

Simply no one really knows what's going on economics-wise. If the entire economy was only affected by US-EU relations, perhaps you might have an argument; but there are millions of tiny factors and independent actors to account for.
