    Spoiler:
All electrical and oil based machinery stops working, yeah. One assumes other forms of polluting tech go too, but it didn't show it. Sucks for you if you were flying or at sea at the time, or undergoing surgery in a hospital, etc.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

But seriously, how much do they change in the new version? you can spoil me, I don't plan on seeing it.
Ir is now a pro-green movie. Before it was a anti-nuc movie.

My impressions: needs more John Cleese; Jennifer Connelly is hot and emotive; err, was this a prequel to Dies the Fire?

God, this was a stupid movie. People need to learn that you can't take allegory for 1950s geopolitics and make a good, relevant adaptation of it more than 50 years later.

Aeson and I saw it when we had 5 hours to kill in the mall in Tagbilaran. Dolores was having her hair straightened, an almost eternal process.

Considering that it took an hour and a half out of that torturous event, it was a great movie.

...the big robot was kinda cool.

Actually, they could have. All they had to do was say the aliens were launching a preemptive strike to defend themselves against Earth's WMDs.

With two sentences, Commie Snug has set out a far more interesting idea for a movie than did these bozos.

But if it dealt with the occupation, it'd feel like they ripped off the first few episodes of S3 nBSG.

Actually, that was the premise for the 1950s movie.

Doesn't work. In the original allegory, the aliens represented the destruction our own militarism would bring upon ourselves; they weren't us or the Soviets. In your work, the aliens represent us. That might as well be a completely different movie.

Except through an entirely different lens, one that doesn't work very well.

Alot cheaper than Dolores's Do, though actually I dared not ask. Particularly since she said the expected price was elevated do to my brilliant idea to visit them in the salon. Instant upgrade to the American price.
