Reading a play without seeing it dramatized is pretty lame.
We would always watch a film version of our yearly Shakespeare play (read one Shakespeare a year in English class). Often it was just the filmed stage version, but in grade 11 we watched the Polanski version of MacBeth. We also watched the Zinnemann version of A Man for All Seasons. Actually, those were one after the other, so we were 2/2 for decapitations ending films that year.
Why do you think that film is not as valid a medium to study English as print is?
