  • looking for safety statistics

Looking for some safety statistics on Christmas safety or winter safety. something like a segmentation of most common accidents so I can run a quick "Family Feud" exercise.

Googling is not getting me what I want. One of the smarties here find something?

    Yes

I'm not exactly sure what you are after.

x-mas safety implies indoor stuff (like don't trip over the power cord) whereas winter safety implies outdoor (snow tires and winter clothing)

I thought he was looking for stats on how many people assault their in-laws

That would be a good example of the x-mas category.

Weasel: I don't care. Either one. I just want some sort of numeric segmentation of accidents to make into a game (5-6 categories of accident, percent each etc.). I found lots of generic stuff on tips, so I'm fine with explanatory guidance, but I want something like

              Percent Christmas related accidents:
              -candle fires 50%
              -ladder falls 30%
              -electrecuted by lights 10%
              -burned while cooking 8%
              -drinking too much 2%

Maybe I will just walk down the corridors and do a survey. That in itself builds awareness.

Sagacious: I was on that site, but I'm not finding a segmentation.

If you can't find stats, make em up. He who can challenge you can provide you an appropriate source.

                  According to my research:

                  -candle fires 50%
                  -ladder falls 30%
                  -electrecuted by lights 10%
                  -burned while cooking 8%
                  -drinking too much 2%

For 100 years, RoSPA has been quietly working behind the scenes to change both legislation and attitudes surrounding accidents. From the compulsory wearing of seatbelts and the campaign to stop drink driving, to the Cycling Proficiency Test and to the more recent ban on handheld mobile phones behind the wheel, RoSPA has been instrumental in shaping our society for the better, preventing millions of deaths and serious injuries along the way.

80,000 people will go to hospital over the Christmas and New Year break as a result of an accident at home

Mishaps with Christmas trees lead to more than 1,000 people injuring themselves each year

Christmas tree lights result in about 350 people needing attention at hospital each year

About 1,000 people are hurt by trimmings or when decorating their homes.

Candle fires have increased. Latest figures show 17 deaths and 920 injuries in a year.

IIRC, Dauhpin is an expert on Christmas

Cool guys. Thanks for the sudden help.

I went ahead and did a survey of my workplace, manually and generated the Family Feud data.
