I have nothing to do at work (waiting on clients) and at 5pm today I find out my bonus and raise, so time is passing incredibly slowly right now.

We have a staff meeting on Friday and apparently money is to be the topic. Since we have a staff party for that evening I'm guessing it can't be too bad. Unlike you, raises aren't in the cards for us. A christmas bonus is the best I can hope for.Originally posted by Asher

I had a factory job years ago that provided a christmas turkey to every worker on our last shift before the holidays. I think the turkey was to make the simultaneous layoff notice they gave us more palatable.

My firm rented out the upscale Far Niente restaurant downtown on Saturday night and threw a pretty pricey party and flew a lot of guys in from London and New York for it. They said business was even up 25% during the past 6 months alone, so I think we're good. Our bonuses will probably suck this year. Between the hurricanes and the financial crash, we've done fairly well, but it's still a down year.
