It's not that unlikely, people get swept out to sea in this manner on enough of a regular basis to view it as entirely possible. In fact, I believe 3 people were killed in a similar manner just last week along the coast as well.

Yeah, it might have been foul play, though. And given that it's Tillamook County, the police might very well be inept.

Neskowin looks like it's about 1 1/2 hour north of Florence, where Lancer lives. The woman who died is a Filapina. I wonder if Lancer and Dolores know her?

                ???

By taking them out to a rock on the oceanfront which is known for wedding proposals?

He put her near where the she was in danger or did you miss this part?
Napper said the tide had receded around the rock when the couple began to walk to it, but then a wave around 3 feet high suddenly came in.

"I turned into it to keep from getting pulled under it," Napper said. By the time he turned to find Alforque, who was only 4-foot-11, she had been caught by the receding waters.

"She was about 30 feet away, getting swept away," Napper said.

The 45-year-old Silverton man tore off his jacket to get rid of any extra weight, and when he looked up again she was gone.

GT, as the name and story indicated, this was a common place for people to stage their wedding proposals. I don't believe there's a history of this happening at this particular spot ever before, so I can see why no one would anticipate it being a danger. This was a freak wave hitting them, after all.

The poor guy thought it would be the perfect romantic spot where he could propose to the woman he loved...

                      I understand this Boris

My point and it is backed by this tragedy, is he did put himself and her in this situation

Makes no difference that other beat the odds, its a tradgedy indeed, but many people become sheeple by not addresing the situation

I mean, not like he went to a drug neighborhood in Chicago where all them crooks are, no

Not like he jumped out of an airplane and the chute didnt open

But he did in fact go where slippery rocks and ocean tides exist

                      this is my point, ownership

Im sorry for the whole loss, but people should stop and think where they are at

                      this was my whole point

Beat the odds? That implies the odds are strong something like this would happen. Clearly they aren't, since this hasn't happened before, AFAIK.

There's an Inn nearby called Proposal Rock Inn. It's almost it's own little industry there. Nobody would think that going on the rock (and it's a HUGE rock right on the beach, not some small outcropping into the sea) would be particularly dangerous.

Basically what you're saying is akin to blaming some guy for taking his new bride on a cruise on their honeymoon and the ship sinks and she drowns. Why oh why did he try to beat the odds?!

Well, sure, but you live in Baltimore. That's only taking reasonable precautions.
