I tried googling for a legit news article based on what I saw on CNN this morning. But the articles that came up seem to be from far-left sites that probably are magnifying or distorting what was talked about on CNN.

It probably depends on your definition of slavery. Probably not chattel slaves, that can be bought and sold in markets. However it's possibly a less visible form of slavery, with things like withholding passports, underpaying workers, paying in scrip that can only be spent at company stores, etc.
      John Brown did nothing wrong.

I am not aware that there was one made. If there was, whoever can find it can link to it here.

But given that there is some form of slave labor in Iraq, what is U.S. military doing about this in conjunction with the Iraqi police force?

A couple of articles from sites have claimed that the U.S. embassy was being built by slaves in Iraq. How valid is that claim?

No, but there was a problem with someone in her family. It has been quite a while so I don't remember much of it anymore...

It wasn't in Iraq, but I remember Lancer having a story about this. Wife's family or family friends.

I wanna say in the UAE.

Don't know about this, but it sure happens in Dubai, Quwait, Abu Dhabi etc. First Chinese, then Indians and when they started to become too expensive those blasted Arabs imported Bengali workers. Their passports are withheld, they are forced to work even when it's 50-55 degrees celsius in the sun etc. A disgrace.

Yes, it's common with Filipinas who go over to that part of the world to work as nannies or whatnot, to have their passports withheld 'until they pay off their debts' (for the transit, rent, food, and transit back, which conveniently they are never paid quite enough to actually make back), IIRC.
