Because the quality of medical care depends on how much or what kind of lipstick the staff wear!

Sorry Che. In the following case the employer also specifically forbids men from wearing makeup or coloring their nails but requires women to wear makeup

The following ruling doesn't ever differentiate between at will states or not. It doesn't even take into account whether it is an at will state or not.

9th Circuit Court of Appeals: Employers Can Force Women to Wear Makeup

In an opinion likely to raise the ire of civil rights and feminist groups, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled Tuesday that a woman who was fired from her job as a casino bartender for refusing to wear makeup cannot sue for sex discrimination.

I don't agree with those who say that woman always look better without makeup - it's a matter of taste, opinion, the individual concerned and the makeup itself, I suppose.

I do think though, that it is wrong to insist that a woman wear makeup in an office job - even in a client facing role.

No, I get that. I think it was more the point that someone felt the need to tell me that I had to wear it. I always do wear some form or fashion of it. But like I said I tend to go for the more natural look when I do.

And Immy and Zkrib......you silly boys! Leave it to the lawyers to rangle this into a debate!

Do you have trouble remembering to wear shoes that match?

You're 100% correct. You should be more concerned that someone felt the need to mention it to you.

But since the thread title was what it is, you have to expect the discussion to include the legality of it.
