  • Most Obscure and Ugly Smilies

    Commentary

... I was looking at the smiley legend and was baffled to see some new smilies I have never seen used in nearly 9 years spent here on apolyton.

(??? WTF is this, seriously. A sock? A dove?)

(And about 6 similar ones... when were these added and has anyone here used them... ever?)

(Gold? A coin? why not a Euro to balance ?)

:desire: (What exactly is the white thing at the bottom of this smiley? Is it a beard or a table? I've never been quite clear what the Desire smiley is supposed to represent?)

(??? This is also the only smiley that doesn't require a closing ":")

    (Is this bread?)

    (? Somehow this is trade.)

(Interesting smiley. Never seen it used though.)

    (This one is great)

Many of those are Civ4 icons that, quite simply, have no conceivable purpose as smilies. A big miss all around.

That desire smilie is supposed to be praying; those are supposed to be hands. Of course, what it really looks like is that dude is fellating an albino ****.

-It was a big controversy back in the day when the current outgoing VP was first elected. (ah, the memories.)

Thanks for the explanation, those certainly don't look like hands, but If I strain, I can see the congruence. I always wondered what was going on with that smiley, and the fact it was called "Desire" certainly made it all the more enigmatic.

It can be seen as a praying smilie, but it's actually a begging smilie.

I think I've seen it used once or twice. Or one much like it.

Obviously it's a guy looking up before looking back down and begrudgingly wrapping his lips around the **** in front of him. What else could it be?
