I decided to stand in the cold to watch the NY Veteran's Day Parade. More JROTC kids than veterans, but still, it was nice.

I figured that being a vet should get me out of going to the parade in this cold Oregon Coast rain storm.

Ran into a couple marines at breakfast earlier who looked so down about their mission for today (march in the parade) that they were trying to get reposted to Afghanistan.

been playing golf with a guy for several years now, knew he was in the military but only heard from him about living in Hawaii working on helos. But he recently let slip he was in the first gulf war and got a purple heart - bullet in the thigh while riding a chopper.

And he's starting to beat me on the golf course about half the time too
