Yes, it's important to remember that Robespierre was also overthrown on the ninth day of the eleventh month. But that was under the Republican calendar, and actually happened in July, so...

I'm a bit worried that no krauts here got my hint
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The 1923 one isn't too obvious. The fella's remembered more for his splendid successes than for his failures.

Black Cat - it should be known to krauts that 9th of nov. ´38 is not an incidental date really, but has a close relation to the ´23 one. I just refrained from mentioning it (and it is beer-hall btw, a ´stube´ being a small place).

Trauanvs - they are not drunk, they just had banana for the first time in their lives... no, but seriously, it is moving, esp. if you remember that a divided people often also consists out of devided families.

Couldn't you just paint a swastika on a wall, then smash it down?

Remember! That's so that nacht won't get acted out again. Really isn't going to help if we act it out with paint and glass. The idea is to achieve "Never again."

The term ´Reichskristallnacht´ (´Imperial-crystal-night´ - yeah, not the drug, guys, tho people might have acted as if on crack or something) is btw officially not politically correct. It was the term used by the Nazis and today the PR-term is ´Reichsprogromnacht´ or something like that. ´Progrom´ replacing ´crystal´ anyways. Expect people to look funny at you if in Germany (and Austria, too, i guess) you use the term ´Reichskristallnacht´ - it´s considered to be an euphemism, which should not exist.

It's known as the Kristallnacht in the rest of the world though.
