Oerdin has his own thread, but I'd like this thread to focus on strategy for the future in how to advance the cause of civil rights for gays and lesbians.
Dumb white working class Democrats, blacks, and Hispanics see no inconsistency in voting for a liberal Democrat like Obama (who DOES support civil rights for gays and lesbians) and then turning around to vote for new, bigoted laws that dehumanize gays and lesbians.
It's especially infuriating to see the hypocrisy of blacks and Hispanics depriving gays and lesbians of civil rights given our country's history of mistreatment and struggle of blacks and Hispanics.
So what can we do to educate dumb, bigoted liberals? I'm also obviously concerned about dumb, bigoted conservatives but this bigoted alliance between the two needs to be broken up ASAP.
I'm thinking that dumb, bigoted liberals vote Democrat on economic issues but will get in bed with dumb, bigoted conservatives on certain social issues.
This is frustrating for educated, egalitarian Democrats such as myself.
