Anyways, I have been catching up on HBO's "The Wire" thanks to Netflicks, and darn it, I had to make a thread because this show is so damned good.

By far the best drama I have seen on TV, and also the most realistic depiction of policing I have seen on TV.

Given the low ratings this show had, and the snubs by the award givers, any other fans out there?

Season 1 was good. 2 was strange, but definitely interesting. 3 was decent, but a little bit of a rehashing of same issues. Four was superb. Best of the bunch. Five was a bit of a letdown.

Good stuff, though the social commentary would have been more effective and thought-provoking had it been more subtle than the sledgehammer it turned out to be.

I was surprised to read this summer that both Obama and McCain were avid fans (or at least purported to be). Makes you wonder who else tuned in.

Ummmm... subtly.

I dunno, it just seemed a little too preachy at times when I'd already gotten the point. Maybe for the average viewer it was tougher to pick up on.

Omar is the single greatest character ever to be on TV.

I got cut off driving a couple of years ago by the actor who plays Omar. I flipped him off before I realized who it was. He returned the favour.
