God damn...so tired of non-Americans debating American politics.

I mean, you have your right...and by right, I totally mean a lack of American narrative by which you focus your policy, because you don't actually have rights in your country to influence my country. But I do. And I use them to the fullest extent.

But damn...we still rule, but you have to deal with us weather we rule by might or by almighty dollar.

So to you foreigners who love to dictate what America "should" do? Umm...I won't say go **** yourself, because that's backwards, but: go reanaylize your dealing with 3rd world nations, go back and check who your supposed "Progressive Leadership" deals with, and go and see who your Prime Ministers have supported...and then apologize for it, and then, maybe, you have grounds to judge my country.

I could have said, "Chill the f*ck out." but I wanted something less Mingish. And before you b*tch at me, I was born in Chicago, IL and have lived in Reno, NV since '86.

I was hoping that EmpFab would respond with a Charlie Brown "Argh!" It just seemed to fit.

Victor Galis and I are the only two non-Americans in this thread. He lived in the US for quite a while IIRC, and I've lived in the US for 5 years.

I don't give a **** which side is playing the opposing role or the compromising role so long as somebody is; politicians of any stripe will always go completely out of control if given an unassailable monopoly on power, and that won't ever change. If they weren't control freaks by nature they would have chosen another line of work.

I know several politicians personally, and while you might like living in a world of charicature, I prefer reality.

NO, not all politicians will become mad control freaks - if that were the case, we would not have had dmeocracy in this country for 200+ years. Politicians are no more control-needy than CEO's or Generals, or other people in positions of power.

And "gridolock" is not the same as "compromise." Even in single party governments there are internal debates and factions - to honestly think that all Democrats agree on everything is absurd and idiotic, just like thinking that Lincoln Chaffee and Strom Thurmond were two peas in a pod because they were both Republicans.

And yes, having a party in power that seeks to destroy and undermine that which it controls is bad. Having anti-government people running government is as idiotic as having anti-business people running a corporation. They are bound to **** things up, and will do so on purpose. Our road and bridge network in in such bad shape because of decades of people dicking around, always lowering taxes while investing nothing on having a working country, because they are stupid enough to think that private corporations will invariably pick up the slack, regardless of a complete lack of evidence.

What have the benefits of compromise been, considering where we are at today?
