See, there's heavy precedent for ludicrously big arguments, but they don't feel like the work of writing so much, most lawyers don't feel like bothering to read it all, and the few who do are so desperately lonely that they'll take any excuse to read porn in their office. Plus the Imran factor. So no decision below SCOTUS-level has actually been more than twenty pages for the past forty years. Before fanfiction came along they just printed the argument five times back-to-back.
