  • John McCain wins debate

So John McCain said he was suspending his campaign. But now that the debate's on (although it was never off), his campaign is confident that he will win.

    How confident?

So confident that they're already running ads saying he won.

Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning.

"McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: "McCain won the debate-- hands down."

If this is really the case, I would vote for him.

Couldn't you have put a spoiler alert in the subject line?

So,,,,even though McCain suspended his campaign and flew to Washington, refusing to leave until the problem there was fixed, he paid to have an ad in the Wall Street Journal anticipating a win in the debate?

One might infer he intended all along to participate.

And what's worse, the ad came out three hours before McCain announced he would be taking part in the debate.

            STRAIGHT TALK!!!

The ad is fake you idiots. No one has an ad saying MCCAIN WINS DEBATE. A screenshot is not proof in 2008.

So you're saying the Washington Post fabricated the story?

It's a blog post, not an article. Wasn't checked carefully. It's a biased paper with biased writers, and that doesn't help.

Yes, the original ad actually said, "John McCain Masturbates." Why do you think he has such a large grin on his face?

Yet no one whose read today's Wall Street Journal has posted a denial. There are no news stories about the Washington Post's fabrication. (I did find references to it on the web, but they all liked back to the Post.)

It's a dumb politics blog. Can't debunk every blog rumor. And in case you haven't noticed, the McCain camp -- right before a major debate and while its candidate is negotiating a critical bail out deal -- is a little bit busy and doesn't want to distract itself or constituents by doing so.

He better hope he wins. Tonight decides whether or not the campaign is over for the GOP.

Why doesn't someone open up a Wall Street Journal and find out?!?
