I have to make up the business plan do you think it would be better to keep the start up cost low and go with like a portable food trailer? They are very popular here. A guy down on Congress has an old airstream he converted called it Hey Cupcake and they line up around the thing. Or is it better to have some type of store front shop thing.

One suggestion might be to try to sell your pies to local restaurants and let them sell them for you and help you build a market for them.

There is a food trailer that used to be a bbq smoker still has the bbq in it but it has a commercial stove counter space frig and other things. Take out the bbq fix it up, paint it the color of the website park it downtown (Floyd, Ramo austin people) will know in some of those parking lots on 1st and congress open up for those on the way to work hit coffee break time and lunch with the cutie pies cause there portable!

Start up cost would be way less then storefront. and the permits are different for a mobile food thing then storefront.

Yeah, the 6th St thing was mainly a joke, but in all seriousness, I bet you could get some decent business selling in the downtown area.

What Ming said makes the most sense to me. If that doesn't work out, you can still opt for the trailer or storefront.

Basically my business sense (which doesn't exist by the way) says that you need to either sell in quantity or sell the concept. YOu can't sell in quantity yet as you lack production resources, the concept is still building up, so franchising it is not yet possible, so I'd try to find one or few places that buys them all out first. Restaurants,... I don't know, you could try to also sell it during the lunch hour for businesses sort of a deal.

I'd say no to the store front. Commercial leases (at least the ones I've seen) run for a minimum of 5 years. With the uncertainties of a new business, you don't want to be committed to such a fixed expenditure.

Ahhh but the person willing to talk to me about financing likes the idea of renting everything to see if the business is going to work. It's all going to be in how I do the business plan of which I no idea how to do. I know how to run things like answer the phones, order supplies all the administrative stuff but actually having to plan a business is rocket science to me. I have this mock up business plan but it's pretty generic. And my person is a specifics kind of person.

I just know I have this idea, these recipes, this passion to try to make something of this one chance I have. I just wish I'd found out Bill Gates was my biological dad!
