So I need help with a name

ok so we all know the pie plight I'm having and while I want to make good on the name recognition that Betty Lou's Buttermilk Pie is about to have the name of the pie shop/bakery needs to be something citchy, catchy, weird (I do live in Austin) and have some type of schtick or hook.

Initally I wanted to call it Betty Lou's Pies & Treats but suddenly that seems a bit boring. I was getting my toes done the other day and we were talking in the nail shop and I said my original idea which was Junebug & Betty Lou's and the ladies all lit up and immediately liked it. I think because it wasn't the norm that you would hear. Then one chimed in about how she had wanted to do that and call it Pitty Pats Pies and Pastry's after her mom.

That's when it dawned on me that it's gotta to be something catchy and fun and ........I don't know. So here are the ones I'm thinking of. Tell me which one you think is best. I need to keep Betty Lou in the name somewhere because the pie that's going on the menu at the driskill will be called Betty Lou's Buttermilk Pie. Husband thinks that the first one is just fine. What do you think?

And on that note would it be pies & treats or pies & more? I want it to be known that we do pies but that we also do other things besides pie. If you just put pie in the title doesn't that pigeon hole you?

Yes but you loose the Betty Lou factor and since the pie on the Driskill Hotel menu is going to be Betty Lou's Buttermilk Pie, don't you want to cash in on the name recognition so to speak.

Having thought about the options presented, I would also choose "Betty Lou's Pies & Treats".

For a reason I cannot articulate, I really don't like the idea of two people's names on the business -- even if its a two-person operation. Names like "Mary Jayne's & Betty Lou's" grate on me for some reason.

Is anyone else having the same reaction?

Simply "Betty Lou's" is perfect.

Easy to remember, you can tell its the name of a lovable, trusting person, it sounds like the name of someone who cooks pies & treats. You don't need to be so detailed in the title of your shop. Let people do the thinking for themselves.

"Betty Lou's" sounds like a household name. I hope to see "Betty Lou's Buttermilk Pie" in my supermarket one day.


Adding your own name is crediting yourself. Don't ever do that.
Let others decide when to credit you or not. Credit your mom, people like that.
