The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

I'd go for Silver Spring myself, just because I hate soulless suburbia (plus my daughter's at college in NY and I have family in NJ and RI, so being in Maryland shortens my travel time). But if you're working in the District, I'd guess you'd be working either in NW below M street or SW; if that's the case, Arlington would be a shorter and more reliable commute (the Red Line can be a real pain).
Okay. In meantime, the director still hasn't gotten back to me on specific archive location I'd be working at. It could be National Archives, maybe Library of Congress, or some other location.
I really cannot do a more productive apartment search until I get this information. But at time I talked with the director, the location was still undecided.

No, but it might pay for the sex change operation you quietly want but just...can't....afford.
On a more seriouse note, MrFun:
1)Congrats I currently work retail, although in a management role, so it's not so bad and the pay is decent. Even so, I'm looking to get out.
2)Since you have your Target connection, why not work a couple nights a week rather than quitting? This way you have an extra income flow to help out - maybe think of it as your entertainment money - and just as importantly you retain whatever discount you currently have. Super Targets come in very handy for lots of household expenses, after all Sure, that will cut down on your free time, but you'll be making money rather than a)spending money or b)worrying about not having enough.
Just a thought
Nah. I turned in my three weeks' notice already a few days ago and I have had no second thoughts of my decision on that or any regret.

Probably Greenbelt.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
Oh, and after doing more online searching tonight, I found some one bedroom apartments in Silver Spring for less than $900 - not studios, but one bedrooms. And based on Timex's map, Silver Spring is far enough away from the red danger zone and still has easy access to metro and businesses.

Well, I guess it's technically College Park, but the metro stop is Greenbelt. Checking the Archives web site, it shows that College Park has the more modern stuff, not the Abe Lincoln stuff.
The National Archives has the following facilities in the Washington, DC, area Washington, DC College Park, MD Suitland, MD Office of the Federal Register
You'll likely be downtown, judging by the collections.

Greenbelt is near College Park, which has lots of student housing. I Don't know if you want to live with students though.
Living with graduate students you probably wouldn't find bad.

We didn't have a summer poly meet this year. Maybe a winter one is in order?
