Yes, everybody knows that Hitler rode on a Jew/Gypsy-drawn chariot.

He had a driver. It pays to be Fuhrer.

Really? I thought it was the single most successful car ever produced, with a production run of over 40 years. Oh, you mean under the Nazis who designed it.....

Well, its because they had to prioritze with different vehicles. You know, things like tanks, which really give one freedom of mobility.

The Nazis increased car production by an amazing amount.

A car isn't just a metal box to drive around in, it's the preservation of individual freedom.
Yeah, and having public transit forces people to not have cars or freedom. Oh, wait, no it doesn't. It offers people w/o cars the ability to get around an urban area. ***** about the cost if you will, but remember their taxes help pay for the highways you (and I) drive on. That goes both ways. Everyone pays taxes for stuff they don't like.

Poor me in NYC without a car, a slave to Statist trains for transportation - thinking about it, I have so little freedom of movement..the trains only work 24 hours a day, and their limited reach means that I can only have access to thousands of restaurants and bars, thousands of shopping outlets and stores, and hundreds of cultural institutions. Its so bad that if I get tipsy partying, I am denied the freedom of not being able to drive home because I am forced to take a train. Man, what slavery, what horror.....

New Yorkers should realize that the world does not revolve around them.

You're stuck in traffic because the government does not charge the appropriate price for using the highways. In most cases drivers don't pay for the delay they cause to others.

Also, it's not illegal to own a car in New York, just artificially expensive.

No, it is as expensive as the market makes it - in fact, the government in this city does as much as it can to keep street parking chaper than it would be if the free market were allowed to be brought into bear. So no, having a car in NYC is not artificially expensive - in fact, it is probaly more in line with true market forces than anywhere else in the US.

                                Gepap,

What do you know about this tax on taxi drivers that I've been hearing about? It sounds unfair to me, but I've only heard the taxi driver side.
