  • Does the republican party deserve to be electorally punished?

I think that Obama's victory would be good, and if it is a rather landslide one winning in some rather republican states. Because it would be a lesson for the republican party, it would teach them they can't ever pick again people like W Bush as candidates, or, if they pick such candidates, they can't rule like that.

Sincerely I don't think Obama is better than McCain, both seem rather similar to me, race apart. I also don't see why republicans would be very against Obama. He is a conservative too.

But it would be good for democracy if republicans lose.

I have seen similar things happen in my life before, I know political parties punished in elections for their **** ups, "grow up" and correct their exceses.

    No,

The American public voted for the Republican dominated government. it's what they wanted. Now, they have a chance to vote them out. The public chose their poison and they are living with it. They might do it again. Buyer beware.

It's not going to be a landslide. It's going to be very close again.

Punished electorally? McCain may win. The Democrats will probably lose a couple House seats due to their getting jack done these past two years. Most of the moderate/conservative Democrats who won seats in '06 have nada to take back to their districts.

The Democrats had the election served to them on a platter and managed to throw away the momentum of the '06 mid-terms. If anything the Republicans may be rewarded for the efforts of a few members of Congress who continually try and shine a light on the Democratic circus in Washington.

So, what you mean is that the eight years of Bush will not matter at all, and that people will look at the congress performances since 2006?

            I don't think so.

This is basically what I believe in

I believe the arrows will continue pointing down if McCain wins.

If I hated the USA I would want him to win.

I think someone has to clean Bush's mess before another gobernment is able to **** up everything again.

Unfortunately for you, what you think doesn't count.

The Democrat problem is that the Republican ideaology appeals to Americans more; all the problems they have with Bush deals more with questions of compete$nce and not of idealogy.

As long as that holds, painting McCain with the Bush brush isn't going to stick.

Jesus Christ. It is Democratic. You have been listening to so much Limbaugh it has rotted your brain and you can't even get the name of the party right.

The cartoon is true, because Clinton did nothing.

Clinton was just like the Republicans except military spending was cut and tax collection increased. If Obama raises taxes and gets us out of the war he'll be just like Clinton. If he doesn't say hello to more deficits.

I thought the GOP had already been punished in the last congressional elections.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
