  • Iran plans to send a man to space in 10 years

As first revealed by the Iranian News Agency on November 21th, 2005, the Iranian authorities have disclosed to their close Chinese allies, one of the country main provider of space technologies, the existence of an Iranian manned space program including the development of a manned spacecraft and a space laboratory. Iran Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO) head Reza Taghipour on August 20, 2008 revealed Iran intends to launch a manned mission into space within a decade. This goal was described as the country's top priority for the next 10 years, in order to make Iran the leading space power of the region by 2021. The exact date for the mission would be set within six months.[14]

According to unofficial Chinese internet sources, an Iranian participation in the future Chinese space station program has been discussed. This involvement might range from simply sending astronauts to the 100 tons class space station to contributing with a space laboratory module.

I wonder, with Orion being such a piece of junk will Iran beat the US in returning to the Moon?

Nah, their current spaceflight plan involves invading Jerusalem and stationing a team of astronauts at the Dome of the Rock in the hopes that they'll go up to heaven the same way Mohammad did.

Not a bad plan the Iranian. It would set them up as the leader of the moslem world. I wonder though, they didn't mention the Iranian on the moon coming back. What we need to ask ourselves is, is there something up there worth blowing up?

Seems as sound as the US's plans for the future of its space program.

I would suggest sending all 70 million of them into orbit at this point.
