I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      Doesn't really sound that interesting.

Edit: Well, the interview of Buffett may be interesting. His big thing is the current account deficit rather than anything about the national debt.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

          DanS actually wrote 'edit'?

They do talk about the current account deficit also ($53 trillion). I saw a bit of it on CNN yesterday.

The current account deficit isn't $53 trillion.

That would be a bit scary.

              IIRC it's more like billion...

The $53 trillion number is both true and a little bogus at the same time.

That number includes future obligations for social security and medicare under the current laws. However, there is zero chance that those laws will stay the same.

From the trailer it looks like a bunch of idiotic nonsense.

The 53 trillion number is a result of brainless extrapolation of past trends 50 years into the future.
