  • Should I spend £670 on this PC?

    DFI LANParty DK x38-T2R
    2*2GB 800MHz DDR2
    nVidia 260@stock
    Antec P182
Corsair HX 620W (will be upgrading to an extra 8800GT later as Physx)

in addition to my 500GB Seagate, which will be stripped out of my old PC.

or, would my old Enermax Liberty 500W (~31A out on the 12v lines, 30A on 5V) power that PC? I doubt it because of the 260, but I'm not sure with powersupplies...it would save me £80

You need a better PSU, definitely. The card would eat half of it alone, and you can't power the rest with 250W. You also need 2 PCIe 6-pin connectors on it.
      Buy a 1000W one.
Also check that that Antec is long enough for a 260.

why not 4870 which seems to be faster/cheaper instead?

Checked all the rest, only thing I wasn't sure of was the power supply. Though this Liberty does actually have both of the connectors, and has been used in SLI systems before, just not with something as ravenous as a 260...

Because nVidia released the drivers that allow a second graphics card to be turned into a physics card, and at the price I'm getting the 260, the 260 is cheaper than most of the 4870s...

Wow, I thought you would be way off, but that's actually close... the dollar has really gained a ton on the GBP recently!

Yeah, I watch the money markets a bit...the UK economy is absolutely tanking atm, but as a student who works in the health care industry, I get plenty of hours to work and no debt that I am allowed to pay back yet. So when companies cut prices and offer double digit percentages off, I find it hard to say no...

Krill, you know he's a Republican, right? That means his house is more expensive than your education...
