Before some smart-alec tries it, no links to people on poly, even though there are plenty of examples of idiocy around here.

On another website I frequent, someone pointed out this gem.

LOL that's the dumbest thing I heard. Dragonball is much older then your LotR and it didn't innovate an ything as books and videogames like that (Heroes of Might and Magic) have existed long before. Also stories with rings being the key to the plot have been around, especially in quite a few 90's action shows. Also none of the characters tyhere are creative either because they're just pasted from Dungeons and Dragons concept and given some stereotypical personalities. Another thing is what the hell does LotR have to do with Onepiece and Dragonball?

People reply and tell him that he's a moron, and an awesome flamewar ensues.

Try to link examples of comparable idiocy from sites other than this one.

Anyway, too many examples from DU to sift through. One I'm working since yesterday has some moron complaining about being banned from reviewing Corsi's smear book on Obama. This guy was violating a very simple rule Amazon.com has for posting reviews/comments: Don't post URLs in them. He's trying to post the link to the Obama campaign's response to the smear book that dismantles it lie by lie which is all well and good, but you can't post URLs in reviews/comments. I point out that rule and he demanded in a PM that I apologize to him. He accused me of accusing him of violating a rule three points above the URL rule which says you can't review/comment on others' reviews (which, by the way, he ALSO did in violation of the rules but that wasn't what I was trying to point out to him). wtflolstfumaroon they don't (always) call 'em DUmmies for nothing...

In one of the later posts, he claims that JRR Tolkien has been milking the series by making new books after the success of the movies.

Here's another amusing one, but it might be a troll. It is famous on the internet for being the worst Fan Fic ever. It's a Harry Potter Fan Fic, and it starts this way:

Pro-Chavez threads on DU are always good for WTF? and ORLY? laughs too. There are some of us over there that delight in getting under the skin of the pro-Chavez kooks. I'm not anti-Chavez (I don't care enough to have much of a position) but I'm not about to let them go unmocked over there.
