Just listened to Polycast with Sid and they we're talking about the possibility of a massively multiplayer online civ game. Got me thinking that this is in fact what we're now doing. Yup, you guessed it... We are in fact an ancient civ billions of years old some of whose individuals have decided to use our supra advanced tech to insert ourselves into a game that roughly aproximates our ancient past before we knew everything and got even more bored than we are here within the game!

a) we will never reach an advanced society due to wiping ourselves out first

b) advanced societies will choose not to make simulations based on the past
