California law requires cities to give everyone a blue 60 gal trash can for recyclables. I believe that's what Newsom is talking about; people putting nonrecyclables in the blue recycle container.

Oerdin, I'm not talking about recycling deposits. I'm talking about the fact that with many recycled goods, the cost of producing goods from recycled products exceeds the cost of producing goods from raw materials. There are some things were it makes economic sense, such as aluminum, naturally, but many materials just cannot be efficiently recycled into new products with today's technology.
Now, if I'm wrong, somebody point it out to me. My understanding of the economics behind recycling is a couple of years old so there may be improvements I'm not aware of. If so, great! I think recycling is a great idea, as long as it is done efficiently and without draconian enforcement measures (such as $1000 fines). I'm just against doing it in the name of PC.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "
