TMZ: Police pepper sprayed Brolin, Wright
Published: July 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Police used pepper spray and stun guns while arresting actors Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright after a Louisiana bar brawl, sources told TMZ.
The actors reportedly were at a Shreveport, La., saloon, celebrating the end of filming on their President George Bush bio-pic, "W," last weekend when a fight broke out. Brolin, Wright and several other members of the "W" cast and crew were arrested for allegedly interfering with a police officer.
TMZ said police used foul language and allegedly uttered the N-word when referring to Wright, who plays Colin Powell in the movie.
The entertainment news Web site said its sources said and the Louisiana television station KTBS reported that Wright was repeatedly hit with a stun gun and pepper-sprayed as he lay on his stomach in the street.
Witnesses also claimed they saw police repeatedly dousing Brolin in the eyes with pepper spray while he was standing quietly. Some of the incident was captured via cell phone video, TMZ said.
The city attorney reportedly hasn't determined whether to bring criminal charges against Brolin, who plays Bush in the film, Wright or the others arrested in the incident.

A cell phone video showing police in racially-charged verbal tirade against Jeffrey Wright during his arrest in Louisiana over the weekend has surfaced, according to TMZ.com.
Actor Josh Brolin was also arrested in the chaos which occurred at a wrap party for the film "W" outside Stray Cats bar in Shreveport. Brolin plays George W. Bush in the film; Wright plays Colin Powell. Police reportedly arrested a crew member for public intoxication and resisting arrest. Brolin and Wright allegedly caused a scene by trying to interfere and keep the peace. Both were then arrested.
A Brolin insider told the Daily News on Sunday that the actor was not involved in a physical scuffle, as several news outlets previously reported. "He was released very soon after the incident," the source said. "It was not a bar fight. It wasn't a physical situation."
But witnesses now say they heard the police use "foul language" and the "N" word to Wright. Sources also say cops repeatedly used pepper spray and a taser on the two men.
As of now, the city has not filed charges against the actors.
