This movie is just awesomeI will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Yup, we saw it last week and Steve hasn't stoped talking about it. We tried to get tickets this week to the IMAX here in Austin but no go three nights were sold out when we looked. He's hooked wants to see it agian. I thought it was apprepeau when the Joker said that line towards the end something to the effect of "you and I, we could do this forever." To bad that it won't continue.

It's a good movie, Heath ledger was solid, Batman sounded like he had a cold and was speaking through a hardass synthesizer, and Morgan Freeman debating FISA in the form of a super cell phone sonar machine was just laughable.

I saw it Saturday. Amazing. Simply Amazing.
My only complaint is that I couldn't hear the dialog at the very end since the music was so loud. I'm guessing this was because it was crowded and the best seats I could find were in the very back. This meant I was close to the back speakers which are even louder in IMAX. Sitting in the back row also ruined the the surround sound somewhat. I'll defiantly have to go back when it is less crowded.USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

I finally got to see it this last weekend. It was a decent movie, which is already pretty high praise coming from me since I don't like superhero movies much.
Ledger's acting wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. It's good, don't get me wrong, but not scary. I always had the impression that he was playing a part. I'm not sure why all the reviewers were concerned for his sanity in getting into character. He still beat Bale by a mile though, making this movie similar to Burton's movie in that the Joker steals the show.
The movie was considerably more realistic than most superhero ones, but that may have been a drawback, because the contrast with the inevitable over-the-top elements is even starker. I never got the sense that Batman was ever in serious danger. There were unbelievably (in the purest sense of the word) slick tricks the characters pulled off... and then Batman suddenly crashes his bike just because the plot requires an on-foot showdown with the Joker. The same deal with his gadgets - when you've got computers and suit mods that will do all this stuff for you, there comes a time when you don't really need a superhero inside it all.
It's the same problem you got in Burton's movie when the Joker is hopelessly outclassed by Batman in the cathedral tower fight. The hero is a billionaire with countless resources on his side and an invincible body suit. So who cares?
Harvey Dent was an interesting character, and could have been really good in a movie that was less crowded. He never seemed particularly convincing as a renegade (Batman has far more resources than he does - a crippled lawyer missing half his face) or as a badguy (the Joker likewise is just capriciously malicious and does a better job of it).
Some flaws carried over from the first film:
The fight scenes were badly done and incoherent.
The movie includes a few nods to Asian settings just for scenery purposes and disposes of all Asian characters as secondary.
Christian Bale sucks and still looks like a stroppy rudeboy, possibly from outside Tynemouth. The growly voice is especially silly in this one.
All in all, a good film for what it is. I think the experiment is officially over and having seen X-Men 1&2, Spiderman 1&2, Batman Begins and now The Dark Knight, it's safe to say superhero movies just aren't my thing.

I saw it again today.
I have to say it's a good film, but it would have been better if there would have been a few relaxing moments.
The feeling of never having beaten the Joker is good, and the plot twists are great, but it's really annoying to spend two and a half hours without a moment of breather.
Also the music is great but sometimes too daunting. I mean, sometimes you'd have a really daunting music for a very non-daunting event, and that is just annoying because it keeps you on the edge the entire time.
Other than that, and the correct observations by Alinestra Covelia, it's a really good film.

I saw it again yesterday also, it's still a fantastic movie. After recent publicity I wonder if Bale was just permanently pee-d off the whole time while filming, hence the uber-stroppiness. But still really anjoyable, mostly down to the Joker.

Finally came round to see it a few days ago. It was better than I had anticipated. I thought Spiderman, X-Man etc were horrible movies in the sense that they were not realistic. Whereas in Batman, the characters don't have superpowers (although the attributes somewhat take over that role. The dialogues were a lot more creative and original than the ones in those other action movies.
Also, I loved the Joker a lot. He made the movie in my view."An archaeologist is the best husband a women can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her." - Agatha Christie
"Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis." - Seneca
