Actually it does. The U.S. has signed a treaty giving the World Court jurisdiction over these kinds of treaty violations. And the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution means this treaty trumps Texas law.

You seem to be saying that since he was here illegally, that absolves him from the law. I have to call bull**** on that one, Zk. This night come as a shock to you, but I don't think any foreign dignitary, from the USA that finds themselves in another country, or vise versa should be granted immunity. I should point out, after reading DinoDoc's post where he quoted you, that that's part of my point. I've told you people at every opportunity, that Texas is a Republic. State's Right still exist. They must. Look at how laws vary from state to state, and not just murder. Take it to marijuana laws. Even within states, municipalities vary.
The bottom-line is, this guy knew that if he did this deed in Texas, and was caught, his life was forfeit. If he didn't know, he was an idiot; and he should have tried to seek clemency for being an idiot. If you want to pay taxes to house murderers, that's your right. We don't. We recognize that the man is an ongoing risk. That's a bad investment.

The income tax was able to be ignored by the States...until the States agreed to grant that power to the federal government by ratifying an amendment to the Constitution.

**** state's rights. Texas needs to follow Federal law and it's no surprise that our overly politicized supreme court once again decided things based on ideology and not the actual law. One look at Bush v Gore shows how utterly partisan the USSC is and why they should all be shot so we can start over.

Either way, **** Mexico. First of all, they have been through a ****load of mandatory appeals, and the sentence has been upheld. Secondly, if they didn't deserve to die, they wouldn't have been sentenced to die by a jury of their peers. You kill someone in Texas, and we're gonna kill you back.

Finally, **** Mexico on general principal anyway. I really don't understand why you guys don't get enough signatures together to hold a referendum on the subject. I can't imagine the world letting the USA keep Texas by force if a majority of Texans decided to leave the union.

Mexico's point is that you need to inform the prisoners of their right to contact their consulate and allow them to contact them for legal help. So they'd like a review of all these cases.

I'm sure Texans would be screaming bloody murder if another country didn't let people know of their rights to contact the consulate of the country they are a citizen of and as a result they were convicted.

Well if the hypothetical US citizen waited until after the trial to assert his consular rights as Medellin did, I can't picture anyone's precious gives a **** actually working. The man did confess his guilt after all. As for reviews of the case, he has had a large number appeals already of which the one to the ICJ and the SCOTUS on this issue were just the latest. Do you expect one more to get rid of the man's confession?

It's about the idea of following the legal process. It won't change anything in the end, but it will satisfy legal obligations owed.
