Who cares that Bud is being bought out by furriners? They made InBev agree, contractually, to keep the American HQ in St. Louis, so most likely no one (or at the worst, a small few) is losing their job over this.

Companies come and go. Especially Inbev-Anheuser-Bush won't last too long. Mark my words!!

It's gone too fast. Struggles between the Brazilians and Belgians in top management have been a thorn in the flesh of the Belgian stockholder families. Carlos Brito in particular is the devil incarnate. Shrewd fella, forced his business attitude quickly upon the rest of management and the company as a whole.

Oh well perhaps they won't complain too much if the cheque doesn't bounce ey

At least it didn't go to Mexico or China, like a lot of manufacturing has done. Cheap crap manufacturing wannabes.

I don't agree, and I'm not even a beer snob.

Let's read about its flavour from beer reviews:
Michelob (Original Lager) is a American Lager style beer brewed by Anheuser-Busch in Saint Louis, MO. Score: 64 with 1,160 ratings and reviews. Last update: 08-26-2024.

12 oz brown bottle with a "Born On Date" freshness date on the label.

A- Sizable head off of a hard pouring, the head seems to stay around for a while. Bright straw hue shimmers in the light.

S- Not much off of the aroma, a little grain ... that is about it.

T&M- Thin maltiness, light body with a feigned dextrin mouth feel. Semi-crisp with an odd bitty slickness on the mouth. A trained hop bitterness barks out only a small yet balancing bite. Odd finish as it wanted to be sweet but it really ended up very dry.

D- Not a horrible premium American lager it missed its mark totally for any kind of substantial flavor. But that is what a macro-lager is right? It does not live up to its manly advertisements in Playboy back in the 1970's.

Pours a bright gold. Big white foam head. Smells faintly of yeast and ... maybe a bit of hops.

Taste is a bit of yeastiness, a touch of balancing hops, and maybe some grain malt. Not bad tasting, actually, for a macrobrew. Just nothing to write home about. It is a bit too watery and overly carbonated, which goes with the territory.

Someone offered me one while out celebrating a friend's graduation, so I accepted; big mistake. Pale golden body with sparse white head atop that disappears faster than I could say disappear. Light, sweet corn malt flavor that reminds quickly that it is a Bud cousin. More and more, I'm questioning why people used to consider this somewhat higher end when i was younger. Did the sleek bottle speak "fancy" to people? Was it the commercials branding this broken-down Buick as a Cadillac? Was beer just not as good, and my tastes and those of friends not well-honed, way back when? Probably all of the above to some degree.

Yeesh, slightly skunky flavor leaves me miffed. Sweet and vexing like Grain Belt, at twice the price. Flat well before it should be. Uncomplicated, needs more malt and everything else. I'd avoid.

Ahhhh... I love the taste of $3 water at the bar. Bottle to glass.

This beer's only positive is its light yellow color, that is crystal clear with tons of carbonation.

Smell is dismal, smells like a college apartment.

Heavy grainy taste, that is very crisp do to the heavy mouthfeel of carbonation.

Avg beer to put in the water category.

DEfinitely something different. My reasons for picking this up were two fold. First, it's an all malt lager, may as well give it a shot. Second, I'll be drinking amazing beer in Boston all weekend, why not give a macro a try.

12 ounce bottle, tall thin pils glass.

A - Very light yellow color. About two fingers of white head. Tons of tiny bubbles rushing to the top. Surprisigly a portion of the head actually stays around. I even got a ring or two of lacing on my glass.

S - Smell is basically of nothing but a tiny hint of lager yeast and pilsner malts.

T - Taste is pretty clean. A slight grainy taste but other than that no real discernable flavors.

M - Thin and light, a tad watery.

D - Could work as a thirst quencher on a hot day. Has a little more to it than other macros which makes it more tolerable.

Looks to me like the general consensus is it's bland.

IIRC, this means America's top 3 brewers are all owned by foreign firms; Coors is actually owned by Canadians and Miller by South Africans, I believe.

So what's our biggest home-grown brew at this point? PBR?

It's funny that in Canada, Molson gets a bad reputation because it's owned by Americans (Coors) and in the US, Coors gets a bad reputation because it's owned by Canadians (Molson).

Actually, I figured Coors improved once Molson bought it. Not that I'd drink it, mind you, but that is what I figured.
