If anyone would know the Republican election strategies of the early 21st Century, it would be Rove. One main theme he left out was telling the big lie about a weakness of the opponent and then saying it over and over and over again. McCain is trying this with the "flip-flopper" crap, but it's not working so well given his own spinning points of view. He is also trying the "too inexperienced" meme, but finds that one triggers the "too old and wrong besides" meme about himself -- not useful in winning the election.

Rove reduces his genius to platitudes to make the point that Obama is following his lead. Once so reduced, the ideas don't sound very different from lots of other campaigns in many other eras. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I am reassured that Rove thinks we stole ideas from him -- he was a big-time winner. He still needs to be shot, but that's another thread.
