Besides you will never get me to believe, especially after being a two time cancer survivor myself that a patients mental status and what they choose to believe will work for them won't work. The mind is really a very powerful thing. But really we all know that.

What about the person that has a serious and legitimate health issue that goes to the acupuncturist rather than a real medical professional? Sure, they leave "felling better" (placebo effect) but their condition continues untreated...

If you read very carefully, Wezil, you'll see that Tiamat has a new job as an office manager.

I understand that you have issues with non-Western medicine. Fine. But that's NOT what this thread is about -- despite your efforts to jack it in that direction.

It's a legal business, paying a fair wage for a day's work, in a crappy economy, to a woman who's been out of work for a month.

So, yeah, IMHO you're being a total ass.

No, I have problems with unproven therapies. Period. Correct me if I'm wrong but is Homeopathy not a western creation? It's a fraud as well.

Wezil - I am normally very scheptical of "natural medicine".

I think it is a dangerous area for people to rely upon it as their sole source of medical attention.

But if the "western medicine" is not working - it is worth a shot IMO. I am not advocating stopping the western medicine - but give a natural remedy at go.

There's certainly a place for alternative medicine in our society. Twice, traditional medicine failed spectacularly (and expensively) when my back went out. The third time it happened, I tried chiropractic, and yes, it was at a "wellness center," where they diagnosed the source of my problem as a posture issue, prescribing custom shoe inserts that correct a spinal curvature. It was faster, it was way cheaper (despite severe limitations in my insurance coverage), I wasn't dozed out on pain meds and muscle relaxants all the time, and it worked.

Your suggestion that the facility that hired Tia is somehow preying on people is uninformed and presumptuous -- apparently based on nothing more than her use of the phrase "acupuncture/wellness clinic" in the OP. No one goes in there at gunpoint. People turn to alternatives when conventional medicine fails them. And guess what? Sometimes it actually helps.

So again -- yes, you're being an ass.

Well because Wezil was being an ass I didn't add the other part into it. I just wanted to see how much of an ass he would be. So here Wezil just to make you feel better the part I left out is that not only is one Dr. there an Acupuncturist but his partner is a................................................. .................................................. ............... wait for it .................................wait..........can you guess? I'll tell you his partner is a Family Practice Dr. practicing of all things Western Medicine. And the "lunger" that I refered to above also saw the Western Medicine doc. today. Dr. B (Acupuncturist) specializes in parasites in the body. Good thing to or this guy would be dying at present. If Dr. B doesn't feel what he's doing is effective, guess what he will send them over to his partner.

And I'm not giving up my nursing either, had to use it today with a patient. It's a great big world Wezil, with lots and lots of different kinds of people and ideas.
