  • Trip to Italy

    so i'm interested in a tour to Italy, mainly in and around Rome, for a week somewhere in september (maybe late august or early october).

    where do I go to find information?
    the lonely planet guide is a bit too unspecific, and having read what it has to say about Israel, it is grossly generalizing stuff.

    i also have specific questions if someone italian is here.

    It's difficult to find a girl within or center of Rome, but if you have transportation, a short distance at the outskirts of the city there are loads. Find Via Portuense going south/west out of the city towards Corviale. Once you reach the city limits watch out. Honestly, there are African hookers every 300 meters on either side of the road. It's almost comical most are sitting in white plastic patio chairs, or standing waving their naked round ****able asses to traffic. Some of the girls are beautiful (about an 8) with incredibly hot bodies with lots of ass. Now this will be an outdoor affair hidden in the bushes, so don't expect a room sometimes there will be a small camper. They seem to have either an old lounge chair or blanket in a hidden area. I got a good looking girl who was very willing to negotiate. It was daylight, so I opted for a BJ and got down to 10 Euro (a little more than $10 US). She looked good and I tried to get her to do it without a condom (she wanted 10 more and I declined). While she was blowing me, I put my hands down her pants and fingered her as well as squeezed those nice sized tits. It was a combination of sucking and jerking me off not a great deal of enthusiasm, but hey, it was $10. I finished up and she handed me a tissue. Then I noticed the hundreds of used condoms all around the area it was really unbelievable. I was more in awe than grossed out. I haven't been there at night, so I'm not sure that they are out there, but then again, I wouldn't go into a secluded spot with any of them at night. There are more hookers on this road than you can believe, but eventually after 3-4 KMs, the round-assed African girls were replace by some of the most hideous transvestites I've seen some with a sort of Picasso face, blowing kisses don't look, it's not something you want an image of in your head (unless you're into that kind of visual masochism). There was a really hot girl that I passed early on who I'll try to find another day maybe for a little sex if her spot is very, very secluded. I think you can negotiate the price of sex to about $20 or close to it. Good luck. (Review # 14352)

            I have the expertise of someone who has never been there. The sights to see are:

            1) Vatican museum + Sistine [sp?] Chapel
            2) Colloseum
            3) Trevi Fountain

            BTW: When I visit a foreign city for the first time, I have my travel agent arrange for a 1-day tour. This gives me the lay of the land and lets me know what I later want to go back and check out in more detail.

              Zkrib, he did mention that Lonely Planet thing...

              Anyway, my girlfriend, who is from Rome, and me will be there from 30th of July till some point in early August, and then on a round trip in South Italy, followed by some days in Croatia. That last bit was her special wish, oh well.

                we'll probably miss you by at least a month.

                i don't have the dough for a 1-day tour

                a week is expensive enough

                  Don't miss the Trastevere quarter, it's where good and cheap restaurants and cafes are.

                    I just realised my location field doesn't make sense without the Helmust Schmidt cartoon next to it.

                        There's a lot of stuff to see in Rome. If you're there for a week, you can go see EUR. It looks a lot like Moscow.

                          It has been some time since I last visited Rome, so my memory may skip some more important points:
                          * Piazza del Popolo and the gardens of Villa Borghese (you may catch a very beautiful view over the City)
                          * Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps
                          * Piazza Navona: Originally a Roman Circus, now a place with three fountains and a church at one of the long sides (watch the gesture of one of the statues in the central fountain!)
                          * Pantheon (a Roman Temple which is still in use as a church)
                          * The(!!) Capitol and the Forum Romanum
                          * Circus Maximus
                          * Lateran Church
                          * San Paolo fuori le Mura and the Roman Walls (which are big enough to contain most of the modern City)
                          * Lots of other churches
                          * Some beautiful parks
                          * One-way streets where "one-way" just is a kind suggestion
                          * Cars and motorini at places where you think it is right impossible to bring a car or motorino to

                          If you have time to travel out of the city, you might be interested in a Roman and a Baroque version of Disneyland, the Villa Hadriani and the Villa d'Este in Tivoli

                          In any case, you should spend the money to buy a decent guide. Rome is one of the cities which offer far more than a week of interesting explorations.

                          Maybe you'll find an interesting GPS game in Rome. I've participated in one in Venice and found it interesting, because it provided me with an unconventional view of the city.
                          Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?

                              I hate Rome
                              I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.
