If the purpose of American gun liberty is to prevent dictators from rising, pistols and shotguns are pretty useless. Americans should arm themselves with AK-47:s, RPGs, Stinger missiles and ****loads of high explosives to make IED:s.

Also, there was some racial discussion in the last pages. On a sidenote, I assume that the people who wrote the constitution never considered the consequence that one day, black people would be able to legally arm themselves.

The people who wrote the consitution probably never considered that black people would stop being unhuman slaves. But remember, all decisions surrounding laws should keep in mind what these people thought.

Nah, that mostly only worked for the Iraqis because we don't understand what we're doing, didn't have enough men on the ground, and were constrained by something that sort of resembled a sense of decency. The surge alone seems to have forced them into hiding (for the moment, at least). A dictator has massive security forces, spies everywhere, and little tools like decimation and hostage-killing that shoestring rebellions have a hard time standing up to. He also plays for keeps.

The real best defense against dictatorship is to have a democracy people can have faith in, so they won't back the damned dictator in the first place.

I've never heard of a dictator taking over a country with over 200 million firearms in private hands. With a massive arsenal like that, it's easy to hit soft targets of a regime. Teachers, mailmen, police officers who drop their guard - they'd all be at risk, and so would their families.

Once you start killing off the eyes and ears of the state, they'll never know where to send their death squads. A police state that has to send platoons to do routine patrols is on its last legs.

The key to all of this is avoiding registration of firearms. As long as hundreds of millions of guns are unaccounted for, the American people will never be conquered.

Not only that, but shotguns are versatile. You can go for good old 00, you can get pyrotechnic rounds like Dragon's Breath or big fat slugs. Remember gungrabbers, when the zombies come, I'm just going to assume you're one of them.
